How old were you when you started and where did your idea come from?
I was 8 years old and noticed my friends weren't checking out books if they didn't have pictures in them. I knew they were "judging the book by it's cover " and that wasn't helping them at all. They thought the library didn't have good books and I had to find a way to let them know the books are there!
What was the biggest mistake you made and what did you learn from it?
Probably not being very open about my book club and expected people to automatically want to come join us. I learned we had to speak out, be more vocal about what we do and what it's really about. Otherwise people don't understand or kids think it's some boring group when we're really the opposite.
What are your future plans for the business?
To expand, hopefully worldwide, where we can have enough volunteers in different cities and states running BookIt4Life Book & Social Club as we established it.
Any advice for other girls starting a business?
Find something that you enjoy doing and are extremely passionate about. My Mom says that's the easiest job to have because you never get tired of it and always put your all into it.
