Questionnaire

How old were you when you started and where did your idea come from?
We started our business when we were 12 years old and our idea for starting Ooh La Lemon came from winning Lemonade Day which gave us the confidence to know even as kids, we could own and operate a business. We used our prize money from winning Lemonade Day to purchase our first inventory and pay for start-up costs.
What was the biggest mistake you made and what did you learn from it?
One of the first products we bought were cell phone cases in 10 different fruit designs. Because there are so many different models of iPhones, we had to buy each design in 6 different sizes and this took a lot of our money and was difficult to track. We have now learned to be more cautious in ordering our inventory.
What are your future plans for the business?
We have recently designed 6 products in a print we created ourselves including our matching dog leash, collar and bow tie set, headbands, bows, lip balm, phone holders, and socks! We even designed a box in the matching print. We would like to continue to create custom products that you can only purchase from Ooh La Lemon and will be associated solely with our company. We are excited that we will be featured on a national network morning news show in mid-September 2019 and hope this will help us gain many new customers.
Any advice for other girls starting a business?
Be passionate about whatever you are selling and have fun with it! Also, you don't have to follow what every other business is doing, you can be creative and think out of the box!
