Questionnaire

How old were you when you started and where did your idea come from?
At 8 years old I LOVE fashion. After attending fashion design camp all I wanted for Christmas was a sewing machine. I couldn’t wait to make my first piece of homemade fashion. Turns out measuring is tricky for any kid and the dress I made fit my 4 year old sister instead of me. That still didn’t stop me. I found a pillow case and creatively made a dress out of it by cutting arm and neck holes. Slipped right into it and it fit! Together with my family, we tweaked the design to make it a more flattering fit and that’s how Scissor Fashion was born!
What was the biggest mistake you made and what did you learn from it?
Not to use pillow cases (the way my idea first began). Girls need a more true to size fit. I learned how to create different size patterns that are standard size for girls.
What are your future plans for the business?
To make even more sizes and shirts using the same concept to get even more attention. We also just launched party packs and I'm excited to start making them!
Any advice for other girls starting a business?
Social media is a big help! Post every day to draw more attention. Be patient and take your time. The more you put attention towards your business the more successful your business will be. And don't forget to have fun!
