THIS GIRL MEANS BUSINESS: MEET OUR CONTEST WINNER EMMA OF EARRINGS BY EMMA
Emma makes it her business for everyone to have happy ears.
We had a blast running the second Girls Mean Business contest. Over forty business-savvy young girlpreneurs captivated us with their inspiring stories and remarkable business smarts. We were so proud to be able to share their stories! We narrowed the entrants down to six finalists, and then held a vote to choose a winner to be profiled in our next book.
Congratulations to our winner Emma from Earrings by Emma!
Emma turned a problem (difficulty finding earrings that wouldn’t irritate her sensitive ears) into an opportunity – all at the age of eight! Yes, it was three years ago that she began selling her metal-free, plastic-hook-and-post earrings, to friends and family members who also had sensitive skin. As Earrings by Emma grew in popularity, Emma started selling her hypoallergenic earrings at Oklahoma arts and crafts markets and later branched out to partner with local salons and retail shops. Like a true girlpreneur, Emma looks forward to the future with confidence; she plans on growing her e-commerce sales (you can buy your own pair here) and improving her entrepreneurial skills.
We’re rooting for you, Emma! And of course, you deserve a big round of applause for being our contest winner and a role model for young girls everywhere. If you’d like to learn more about Emma’s startup story, you can read her profile in The Startup Squad Book #2: Face the Music, which comes out on May 5, 2020. Reserve your copy today!
